Centrally located South Place Hotel has been working in collaboration with Teenage Cancer Trust to create South Place Sessions, evenings that focus on music and visual art as a fundraising medium. After their Groove Armada session at the end of September, the hotel became a workshop venue for some of the young people who benefit from the trust. In their own words, the South Place team “felt it was important to contribute something directly to the charity, create a positive and memorable experience for these patients.”
Gavin Mitchell, one of the artists whose work lines the walls of South Place, hosted the workshop and actually came up with the installation/light show on the night. The day was a roaring success for both South Place Hotel and Teenage Cancer Trust patients, who thoroughly enjoyed the event.
Overall this was a hugely positive event for young people who have to deal with a huge amount of negativity day to day, so the South Place team were incredibly grateful to impact the lives of these brave teenagers in a different way.
To have raised an incredible £2,000 for the charity was also a real triumph, and hopefully can go towards beating cancer.
