VENETIAN CARNIVAL AT SARTORIA

Sartoria will be celebrating the traditional Italian festival of ‘Carnevale’ in authentic style with a Venetian inspired menu and cocktails, available until 15 March.

Carnival Aperitivi

Customers can start the Carnival experience with an aperitivo at the bar.  Two new cocktails have been created and are as follows:

  • Rialto Martini - Gin, Campari and peach purée, £9
  • ‘La Fenice’ (named after the prestigious theatre in Venice) - mixed berries, Crème de Mure, cranberry juice, topped up with Prosecco and raspberry vanilla vodka, £12

Carnival Menu

Head Chef Alan Marchetti has taken inspiration from the food and traditions of the Veneto region and created a menu available for both lunch and dinner and priced at £19.50 for two courses,  £24.50 for three courses.

Acciughe marinate al Salmoriglio

Marinated anchovies with olive oil, oregano, garlic and lemon juice

Zuppa di cozze e crostini all’aglio

Soup of mussels with garlic croutons

Vegetali arrosto con polenta

Oven baked winter vegetables served with polenta

Venetian Carpaccio

Classic Beef Carpaccio

‘Risotto’ with peas, bacon and Parmesan

Fegato alla Veneziana

Sautéed strips of liver cooked with onions and lemon juice

Moscardini con riso all’inchiostro di seppia

Sautéed baby octopus in garlic and chillies served with black squid ink rice

Bigoli al pomodoro e acciughe

Bigoli (hollow spaghetti shaped pasta) with a light tomato and anchovy sauce

Now a classic dessert, it was originally created in Venice for the nobility

Frappe di carnevale

Also known as ‘chiacchiere’ (the Italian for ‘chatter’), these deep fried strips of sweet pasta are served dusted with sugar

Head Chef Alan Marchetti has devised a delicious classic Italian menu to enjoy through to Winter, with dishes such as Venison Carpaccio, radicchio and bitter almonds, Castellucio lentil soup, pheasant with pancetta, chestnut and Polenta, Wild seabass with braised baby fennel, and Poached pear in red wine with cinnamon ice cream.
