Giuseppe Cafaro

Radici, Islington’s neighbourhood Southern Italian trattoria, is proud to welcome our new Head Chef, Giuseppe Cafaro! Cafaro began his career working in his parent’s restaurant in Neopoli, and learnt the basics of making pizza from his mother mamma Maria as well as about bread and baking from his Grandmother Nonna Rossa.

His first move from Italy took Cafaro to Frankfurt for a year aged 18, and following this, the travel bug was set and he moved to Milan before starting up in London in his early 20s. His first job in London was at Italian restaurant Princi, where we looked after the pizza and bread section. It would be his next job at L’Anima, that would see Cafaro meet Francesco Mazzei, our Chef Patron. Giuseppe started as Head Baker under Mazzei at L’Anima, following which he opened L’Anima Cafe as Sous-Chef.

The next and final challenge before arriving with us at Radici, would be at Sartoria, Mazzei’s high end Mayfair restaurant. Following these adventures, Cafaro now joins us up in Islington, and is a most welcome addition to the team! He will be working alongside our team to bring the finest Southern Italian ingredients to the kitchen for wonderfully rustic dishes.
