Alfonso was born in Napoli (Italy), and has been working in the hospitality side of the most important villas and restaurants of Napoli’s region since he was teenager, managing to develop a passionate interest in both food and wine.
In 2006 he moved to London to learn and improve his portfolio in a city with a multitude of food and beverage concepts.
In 2009 he started his career in a Michelin star restaurant, it is in this environment that his passion for wine grew even more.
At Rhodes W1, he had the opportunity to work with Michelin-starred chef, Gary Rhodes and Paul Welburn, as well alongside Master Sommelier, Yves Desmarin. He then moved to Tower42, where in 2012 at Rhodes 24, he became Head Sommelier.
Furthermore, he had the opportunity to work alongside the British Michelin-Starred Jason Atherton and Paul Walsh at City Social, where they were awarded with a Michelin star after only 6 months from opening.
Since April 2017, he joined D&D London as a Head Sommelier at Skylon.
